Cross-border bump: Monthly bridge traffic continues to climb

Traffic increased by nearly 14,000 one-way crossings in April 2024 compared to same month last year

Traffic crossing the International Bridge in April saw nearly a 21 per cent rise compared to the same stretch in 2023.

The International Bridge Administration released its monthly bridge crossing numbers this morning, and it shows 78,967 crossings in April 2024, which is an increase of 13,641 (20.9 per cent) from the same stretch a year ago.

The breakdown of crossings includes:

  • Full-fare passenger cars - 33,136 (up 10.9 percent from last April)
  • Commuter fare: 38,917 (up 34.5 per cent)
  • Car pulling trailers: 809 (up 9.3 per cent)
  • Commercial trucks: 6,105 (up 5.8 per cent)

Year-to-date traffic on the bridge (up to April 30) is 295,013, which is an increase of 22.6 per cent from the same period a year ago.
