Shelter dog run provides freedom and fun for pets and owners

The dog park is open 24/7 every day of the year and is located on the south side of the CCAS parking lot

The Chippewa County Animal Shelter is a temporary home to several cats and dogs on any given day.

The staff at the shelter take pride in providing the care that is needed until the animals get adopted.

The CCAS also offers two dog runs for a small yearly fee of $15 for the first dog, and $5 for each additional dog.

All dogs using the Barking Lot Off Leash Dog Park must wear an annual permit tag on their collar. The exception to this is dogs who obtain a day pass at the park.

The larger dog run area is approximately 10,000 square feet for those high energy dogs … and a much smaller one right next to it.

There are rules and regulations that must be followed in order to use the park.

The rules are to keep the dog park safe for the pets and for the owners using the park.

The dog park is open 24/7 every day of the year and is located on the south side of the CCAS parking lot.  It is surrounded by a high chain link fence. It also has a covered shelter with some seating.

The CCAS is located at 3660 South Mackinac Trail about 1/2 south of the roundabout.  The phone number is 906-632-2519.
