In April 2024 the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post was asked to investigate services charged by a privately contracted IT company. The invoices from the IT company were paid, but the company who used their service stated they only received one of the three servers listed on the invoice. They were also concerned over invoices they paid between 2018 and 2021.

The IT company is privately owned by 63-year-old Arthur Joseph Ross III from Rogers City. An investigation led to an arrest warrant being authorized by the Otsego County Prosecutor’s Office. Ross turned himself in at the Otsego County Jail on Oct. 21, 2024.

Ross was arraigned in the 87-A District Court in Otsego County on one count false pretenses $20,000 or more but less than $50,000, and one count larceny less than $20,000.
