A fire this afternoon in Kinross/Kincheloe destroyed a barn and damaged the side of the adjacent house.
The call came in just before 2:30 p.m. when the owners of the house arrived and saw smoke coming from the barn.
Eight miniature horses were rescued and not harmed.
Pickford, Rudyard, and Kinross volunteer fire departments along with Kinross EMS, Soo Tribe, Chippewa County Sheriffs Department, and the victim services unit all responded.
Firefighters are expected to be on scene for a while due to the hay stored in the barn.
The fire was on S. Water Tower Drive and Kincheloe Drive.
