Chippewa County Central Dispatch released a statement to its Facebook page at 1:10 p.m Thursday, notifying drivers of a traffic accident causing road closure and evacuations at M-48 and M-129 in Pickford:
"Currently there is a 2 car accident involving a tanker truck loaded with propane. A significant leak has resulted in road closures at this location. Be prepared for a detour. Please avoid the area as emergency responders are hard at work containing the leak and treating the victims."
As of 8 p.m. the road was reported open.
