Viking Octantis comes through fog to Soo Locks (12 photos)

Sault, Mich., will be added to the itinerary next year

The Viking Octantis comes out of the fog past Mission Point at noon, May 26.

Constructed in Norwegian and Romanian shipyards and launched last December, the ship is designed to explore polar regions.

However, this cruise season runs 14 circuits from Milwaukee to Georgian Bay, through the Soo Locks and up to Thunder Bay and back again, with Duluth and Mackinac Island as intermediate stops.

Sault, Mich., will be added to the itinerary next year.
