Barbara Ellen Henriksen, age 73, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died at MyMichigan Medical Center in Sault Ste. Marie on December 15, 2022. She was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 22, 1949, to John Richard and Martha Ellen (Bradford) Lawrence.
Barbara spent most of her childhood in Seattle, Washington. She graduated high school and moved around a lot due to her father being in the military. She earned her associate degree in business and began working for a major insurance company out of Seattle. She moved to the Eastern Upper Peninsula in 2006, and worked as a medical transcriptionist until her retirement in 2018.
Barbara loved creating art. She needlepointed for many years and loved to color in adult coloring books. She enjoyed watching baseball and was a big Mariners fan. She also loved to spend her time outdoors. She enjoyed golf and attended yard sales every weekend to find little treasures.
Barbara is survived by her significant other, Kevin Hallesy of Sault Ste. Marie; brother, John Lawrence of New Mexico; brother-in-law, Tom Hallesy of Brimley, Michigan; and sister-in-law, Lori Hallesy of Sault Ste. Marie.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha Lawrence; mother and father-in-law, Maureen and Dennis Hallesy.
There will be no services per Barbara's wishes.
