Dolores Ethelyn (Bosley) Rye, age 82, of Pickford, Michigan, died on July 17, 2022, at 2:15 AM at her home with her sister, LuAnn, and surrounded by her family. She is a survivor of colorectal cancer of ten years and died of peritoneal carcinomatosis and a broken heart from the loss of her husband 47 days prior. She was born on April 15, 1940, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to Ross John and Grace Elizabeth (Rabideau) Bosley.

Dolores was born in Sault Ste. Marie her family lived in St. Ignace, and California before returning to Detour, Michigan, where she grew up and graduated from Detour High School with the class of 1958. She worked as a waitress with her mom at the local Drive-In. She met Fredrick Charles Rye while attending the local dances in Hessel/Cedarville, where her father Ross played in the band. After a five-year engagement, they married on October 19, 1963, at the Pickford Presbyterian Church. They went on their honeymoon in WaWa, Canada. They settled in Pickford and started their family and then moved to their farm where they lived out the rest of their lives together. Besides being “Mom” and “the Farm Wife”, Dolores worked for Michigan Bell Telephone as an operator, and waitressed at several restaurants all over the Eastern Upper Peninsula. She also worked at a private Adult foster care/ nursing home in Hessel. She retired in 1995. Then she provided care to many people with a compassionate heart for families to lean on as a private caregiver in several area families’ homes.

Dolores was a member of the Pickford Presbyterian Church and the Michigan Women’s Bowling Association.

Dolores loved dancing, sewing, reading, crocheting, and knitting. She also enjoyed baking and bowling. She loved to listen to her country music and watch the Grand Ole Opry on TV Saturday nights. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Dolores is survived by her daughters, Jo-Ellen (Jake) Campbell of Pickford, Sharolyn (Steve) Groh of Sault Ste Marie, April (Steve) Batho of Pickford, and Julie (Leo) Coullard of Pickford; sons, Fredrick (Shelley) Rye Jr. of Sault Ste Marie, Robert (Cherie) Rye of Pickford, and her special son, Terry (Camille) Wheeler of Belaire, Michigan; grandchildren, Nikki (Travis) Campbell, Heather (Mark) Black, Sandy Campbell, Tiffany ,Campbell, Derick (Courtney) Campbell, Kayleen Ogston, Hadley and Talon Rye, William (Courtney) DeYoung, Grace (Kyle) Ferran, Sara (Todd Miller) Watson, Jennifer (Jared) Johnson, Nikki Storey, Will (Shawnna) Storey, Bobby Rye, Steven (Madeliene) Batho, Jacob (Maressa) Batho, Brett Batho, Austin (Kaylee) Beamish, Cassie Beamish, Robert (Jackie) Wheeler, Erik Wheeler, and Nikki (Dylan) Whitney; great-grandchildren, Hannah Graham, Kyle Graham, Mitchell Michalski, Mady (Conner VanLuven) Michalski, Quincy Michalski, Ramsey Michalski, Cody Campbell, Cora Black, Chase Black, Cole Gendron, Owen Campbell, Maryn Gendron, Evan, Ryan, and Kristian, Kyler Farren, Mackenzie LaPorta, Christopher and Blane Vagts, Ariel and Lucas Storey, Kade Batho, Grayson and Sonny Talentino, and Huxley Beamish; brother, Anthony (Sue) Bosley; sisters, Sharon Hamel, Carol (Murray) Hansen, LuAnn (Chuck) Harrison; and Delores Bosley.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband the love of her life, Fred Rye; parents, Ross and Grace Bosley; brothers, Jack Bosley, Chuck (Marilyn) Bosley, and sister, Denise Thompson; brothers-in-law: Burton Hamel , Roy (Louise) Rye; sisters-in-law: Loreen (Mack) Harrison, Jean (Cal) Hyslop, and Mary Ellen Rye.

Visitation will be held at Galer Funeral Homes & Cremation in Pickford, on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. The Funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M.

Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens Cemetery in Bruce Township, Michigan.
