Floyd Earl Peffers, age 89, of Dafter, Michigan, died at the Pennington House in Pickford, Michigan, on July 21, 2022. He was born in Pickford on May 20, 1933, to William Henry and Pearl Jeannette (Farrish) Peffers.

Floyd grew up in Pickford and graduated from Pickford High School. He joined the U.S. Army and returned to the Eastern Upper Peninsula after two years of serving. He started working in the autobody industry doing repair, painting, and collision work. He moved to Florida for a few years until returning to his hometown. He met Geraldine Ann Esson while they were the best man and maid of honor for their cousin’s wedding. Later on, they married on August 11, 1961, in Brimley, Michigan. They lived in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and then settled in Dafter, raising their three children and starting their farm. He retired from working in to autobody industry after forty years and a heart attack at the age of fifty, but he continued to work other odd jobs since and has enjoyed his years of retirement.

Floyd loved the outdoors and would spend it by hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, boating, and blueberry picking.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Gerry Peffers; sons, Rodney Peffers of Dafter, and Randy (Debra) Peffers of Gladwin, Michigan; daughter, Kelly (James) Weinheimer of Clayton, North Carolina; grandchildren, Maria Peffers, Zachary (Rianna) Weinheimer, Jacob Weinheimer, and Tommy Barns; great-granddughter, Blaire Weinheimer; sister, Emily Pinto of Florida; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, William and Pearl Peffers; brothers, Henry, Elbert, Harvey, and Ernie; sisters, Erva, Jenney, Freida, and Opal; and brother-in-law, Louis Pinto.

A graveside service will take place on July 27, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at the Oaklawn Chapel Gardens, 15264 M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan 49783.
