Jerome "Harry" Bernard Olszewski, age 97, of Raber, Michigan, died on January 17, 2023, at the American House in Petoskey, Michigan. He was born in Wyandotte, Michigan, on June 22, 1925, to Stanley and Rose (Damofal) Olszewski.

Harry grew up in Wyandotte and graduated from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel High School in 1943. He joined the Army Shortly after school and was a combat veteran in World War II. Harry was captured and was a Prisoner of War for nine months. When the war ended, he returned to Wyandotte and began working for Fabricon Automotive. Harry met Gertrude Bender and they married on September 30, 1950, at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, and settled in Southgate, Michigan. Harry continued working for thirty-five years before retiring. In 1994, they moved to Raber, Michigan, and they participated in the community, making many new friends.

Harry was lifetime member of the VFW #1136 in Wyandotte, also a lifetime member and Chaplain for many years of the Bender-Johnson AMVETS Post #79, the American Legion Post #323, and he volunteered for the Senior Meals in Raber.

Harry loved woodworking, playing his trumpet and self-taught guitar, hunting when he was younger, and building and painting model ships and planes.

Harry is survived by his son, Brian (Phyllis) Olszewski of East Jordan, Michigan; and granddaughter, Stephanie Olszewski; sister-in-law, Eleanor Dillon of Lincoln Park, Michigan.

Harry is preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude; parents, Stanley and Rose Olszewski; brothers, John (Sophie) Olszewski, Tony (Rita) Olszewski, and Theodore "Duffy" Olszewski; sisters, Mary Price, Stella Cook, and Rose (Peter) Workman.

A visitation will be held on January 23, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, in Goetzville, Michigan, with the Mass of ChristiaBurial to follow at 12 Noon.

Final Resting Place will be at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.
