138 kids fish the Annual Connor Gorsuch Kids Fishing Day event

'The morning went really well,' Angela Gorsuch said. 'I really love seeing the little ones when they catch a fish. Their faces just light up.'

Approximately 138 kids fished out of the Rotary Island Park Kids Fishing Pond this morning in the Annual Connor Gorsuch Kids Fishing Day event, organized by Gary and Angela Gorsuch.

"The morning went really well," Angela Gorsuch said. "I love seeing the little ones when they catch a fish. Their faces just light up."

Although it was a tough bite, some big fish came out of a small pond.

Kayslee Gorsuch, 3, caught the largest fish in the girls division, measuring in at 16 inches. Brady Young, 14, caught the largest in the boys division, measuring in at 16.5 inches. Issac Holden, 16, won the sportsmanship award.

Jordy Taylor-Dunback, 7, caught a 16 inch trout in the 7 to 12 age group.

Winners received plaques. Raffle tickets were also drawn for prizes.

"We had seven charters to give away from local captains, bikes, fishing poles, tackle boxes, and every toy under the sun," Gorsuch said.

She thanked the local business owners and boat captains who donated to the kids fishing event.

The couple's eldest children also helped out when needed. Gabrielle Gorsuch was the event announcer, and Garrett Gorsuch helped younger kids learn how to fish.

More than 300 rainbow trout were released specifically for Kids Fishing Day. Throughout the summer, 3,000 plus rainbow trout from Jordan River Fish Hatchery have been thrown into the pond.

Approximately 200 fishing poles were donated to the Annual Connor Gorsuch Kids Fishing Day event as part of the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's National Walleye Tour (NWT) that finished up yesterday afternoon.
