Cocaine seized, Traverse City man arrested after anonymous tip to police

In October, police were told a man was selling drugs from his Traverse City residence

A Traverse City man is facing drug charges after Michigan State Police received an anonymous tip.

In October, they were told a man was selling drugs from his residence on W. Mobile Trail in Traverse City.

Police received more information throughout November, which led them to pull over a vehicle on Vance Road in Blair Township last Thursday.

MSP say a police dog then detected drugs in the vehicle.

“During a subsequent vehicle search, troopers found multiple small twist tied bags containing powder cocaine and crack cocaine (approximately 6.5 grams total), a rubber container containing crack cocaine (approximately 1 gram), crack pipes with cocaine residue, empty baggies, empty containers with cocaine residue, and two digital scales with cocaine residue,” police said in news release.

“Several of the items tested positive for ‘Cocaine Base’ and ‘Cocaine HCI.’”

Police then searched the suspect's residence where they say they discovered more cocaine.

Alex Gregory Shenk, 30, has been charged with one count of delivery of narcotics less than 50 grams and one count of maintaining a drug house.

His bond has been set at $5,000 10% cash surety and he’s scheduled to appear in court next on December 19.
