Drugs, two machetes found in vehicle stopped by police

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich. - On Wednesday, May 8, at approximately 7:30 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Traverse City Post stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation on E. Main Street in Kingsley.

The driver, a 56-year-old man from Traverse City, had an outstanding warrant out of Grand Traverse County for contempt of court stemming from a methamphetamine arrest. During a search of the vehicle, drugs including as fentanyl and methamphetamine were found in various places. Two large machetes were also found near the driver and his backseat passenger, a 35-year-old man from Traverse City.

Suboxone strips were also seized from the driver and his passenger. Both the driver and his passenger were arrested and lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail pending arraignment.
