On Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, at approximately 2 p.m. a trooper from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post stopped a vehicle for speeding on northbound I-75 in Tuscarora Township. The driver, 23-year-old Jace Logan Schuler from Sault Sainte Marie, informed the trooper he had a handgun inside the vehicle. Schuler moved his leg to reveal a loaded Glock 9mm sitting between the seat and center console. Schuler did not have a permit to carry a concealed pistol. The pistol was registered to Schuler. Schuler was arrested and lodged in the Cheboygan County Jail.
Schuler was arraigned in the 89th District Court in Cheboygan on one count carrying concealed weapon. He was given a $2,000 PR bond. His next scheduled court appearance is on Jan. 11, 2024.
