CRAWFORD COUNTY, Mich. -- On Sunday, Feb. 4 at approximately 6:05 p.m. troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post were called to a residence on Pinecrest in GraylingTownship for an assault complaint.

The victim alleged 57-year-old George Philip Heacock III of Grayling had assaulted her. According to the victim and a witness at the scene, Heacock was asleep on the couch when she arrived home. Heacock leaped off the couch and assaulted the victim by hitting and choking her.

Heacock had been drinking, but he claimed the victim woke him up by kicking his leg before he assaulted her. Heacock was lodged in the Crawford County Jail.
Heacock was arraigned in the 46th District Court in Crawford County for one count assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. He was given a $5,000 10 per cent cash surety bond. His next scheduled court appearance is on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m.
