On Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, at approximately 9:15 p.m. troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post stopped a vehicle on Healy Lake Road near Potter Road in Maple Grove Township. The front seat passenger, a 39-year-old woman from Traverse City, had a warrant for her arrest out of Benzie County for a failure to appear charge for possession methamphetamine and an assault and battery charge. During her arrest, troopers located methamphetamine inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old man from Scottville, was also placed under arrest. During his arrest, troopers found he had a flashlight in his pant pocket that was also a stun gun.
The man and woman were lodged in the Manistee County Jail pending arraignment.
