Trident detectives arrest two Saginaw residents on drug charges

Detectives from Trident were investigating a female who was supplying large amounts of cocaine to several people in the Chippewa County area.

Detectives set up a purchase of over 50 grams of cocaine from the suspect who was to deliver it to Sault Ste Marie, Mich.

On Dec. 17, detectives made the purchase of cocaine. Shortly after a traffic stop was conducted. A search warrant was conducted on the vehicle where additional evidence was found.

Trident found during the traffic stop that the female brought her 18-month-old toddler with her from lower Michigan and was present during the drug transaction. A male suspect also made the trip and was present during the transaction.

ARRESTS:

Linda Symone Baker, 27, a Saginaw resident

1- Delivery of Cocaine over 50 grams

2- Conspiracy to deliver Cocaine over 50 grams

3- Child Endangerment

4- Destruction of evidence

Gene Guadalupe Canales, 41, a Saginaw resident

1- Delivery of Cocaine over 50 grams

2- Conspiracy to deliver Cocaine over 50 grams

Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Chippewa County Correctional Facility. Both suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Both Baker and Canales were arraigned in the 91st District Court.

Trident was assisted by Sault Ste Marie Police Department, Chippewa County Sheriff's Office, Child Protective Services and Central Dispatch.
