The number of vehicles crossing from one Sault to the other via the International Bridge is up 25 per cent in March compared to the same month last year.
In a news release, the International Bridge Administration says there were 80,539 one-way traffic crossings in March 2024, an increase of 16,098 over 2023.
Commuter fares represented 47 per cent of those crossings, while 45.3 per cent were full-fare passenger cars.
The March 2024 numbers at a glance are:
- Full-Fare Passenger Cars: 36,510 (27.8 per cent increase)
- Commuter Fare: 37,853 (32.1 per cent increase)
- Cars Pulling Trailers: 595 (38 per cent decrease)
- Commercial Trucks: 5,581 (10.8 per cent decrease)
As of March 31, 216,046 vehicles have crossed the bridge so far this year. The bridge has processed 105.7 million bridge crossings since 1962.
