The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID Data Tracker website has warned residents of worsening transmission levels, encouraging everyone to sanitize and wear masks in public settings.

There were 520 Chippewa County COVID-19 cases documented in Monday evening's count. This means that 1,392.27 per 100,000 county residents have tested positive for the virus. There were 19 new hospital admissions.

Michigan’s seven-day count confirmed 145,387 new cases. There were 546 new hospital admissions and 473 deaths throughout the state.

The percentage of fully vaccinated state residents over the age of five is 60.9%. In contrast, 70.3% of county residents were fully vaccinated. The state’s vaccine rate rose by .1%, while the county’s remained the same.

Chippewa County Health Department Health Officer Karen Senkus has advised residents to get their vaccinations and booster shots.

“If you have not yet received a Covid-19 vaccine or a booster, please do so,” Senkus said.

Senkus would also like to remind anyone who has been exposed or is exhibiting symptoms to get tested.
