Clyde's and Rodenroth Motors team up for summer promotion

"We have adults collecting them. Kids are collecting them."

Clyde's Restaurant has been a staple in Sault Ste. Marie since 1949.

Locals and tourists alike visit Clyde's because of the vast menu which includes the Big "C" burger but also because you can watch the freighters pass by while enjoying your meal.

And this summer season, you have another reason to frequent the iconic joint.

Clyde's and Rodenroth Motors have teamed up to give away, with each kid's meal, a special cardboard car or truck.

"The Clyde's family is very close. The Clyde's Restaurant in Manistique has been using these cars for years and when I saw it, I just loved it," said John Jesionowski, manager of the Sault Ste. Marie Clyde's.

Jesionowski did some research on the cardboard cars.

While the cost of each cardboard car is relatively inexpensive, he did not want to actually raise the prices on the kid's meals to make up for the cost.

That is when Jesionowski reached out to Tyler Rodenroth to help with the costs.

"Tyler was all on board. He loved it! We came up with a way to promote Rodenroth on the cardboard cars, while at the same time, giving these cardboard cards free to the kids. The response has been amazing," Jesionowski added.

Clyde's officially opened up April 29 and the interest in the cardboard cars continues to grow.

Jesionowski says that even though the promotion was originally centered on the younger crowd, adults are welcome to buy a meal and get the car.

"We have adults collecting them. Kids are collecting them. Some are asking us what year the cars are. It's been a tremendous promotion," he continued.

Rodenroth is glad that Jesionowski wanted to team up with him.

"It keeps the kids interested in cars by being creative and having the cardboard cars for them to keep," Rodenroth explained.

The two started the promotion with 3,000 cardboard cars to give away.

There are 18 different styles.

"I am glad that we can have this partnership with Clyde's and support the community," Rodenroth concluded.

Clyde's is at the entrance to Rotary Park.
