DIOCESE OF MARQUETTE

The Diocese of Marquette announces the ordination of Deacon Matthew Chartier. Deacon Chartier is scheduled to be ordained to the order of the priesthood on Friday, June 2 at 3:30 p.m. ET at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette. Bishop John Doerfler will be the principal celebrant, with the priests of the diocese concelebrating.
Deacon Chartier was accepted as a seminarian for the Diocese of Marquette in 2015. He began his studies for the priesthood later that year at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. Deacon Chartier is from Vulcan, Mich., and is the son of Paul and Michelle Chartier. His home parish is St. Barbara in Vulcan.
The ordination Mass is open to the public. A light reception will take place in the cathedral hall following the Mass.
