Earlier this month Director of Chippewa County Dispatchers Michelle Robbins presented dispatcher Kiley McGowan with a stork pin for her work helping deliver a baby boy. The stork pin isn’t handed out often, but it does happen.

“It’s always exciting,” said a Chippewa County dispatcher reached for the story. It was the only one handed out this year.

The text of the Facebook post about the event follows:

On November 12 in the early morning hours an expectant mother went into labor in Chippewa County.

When the parents realized the baby may make his appearance before they could reach the hospital the father called 9-1-1.

The baby made his way into the world at about 0221 and our dispatcher helped dad keep the baby safe and gave the new dad pre-arrival instructions until the ambulance could arrive on scene.

When a dispatcher helps bring a baby into the world they receive a stork pin. Dispatcher Kiley McGowan was presented with her stork pin at our annual staff meeting.
