FESTIVAL OF TREES

The Chippewa County Family Project’s annual Festival of Trees is resuming its live, in-person auction. This year’s holiday event is from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26, at 313 Ashmun St.

An afternoon of family fun and tree shopping, sponsored by Josh MacDonald of Edward Jones, will include a visit by Santa Claus from 3-4 p.m. Sault Vision Clinic is sponsoring kids crafts that will include decorating ornaments and cookies.

Unique holiday trees donated by area organizations and businesses will be featured on the CCFP Facebook page beginning Nov. 24. Bidding begins that day by texting 906-440-0667. Bidding closes at 5 p.m. on Nov. 26 during the in-person festivities. All proceeds benefit the Arfstrom Faunt Teen Home.

The 2021 and ’22 Festival of Trees conducted only online auctions due to COVID.

“The effort, creativity and artwork put into the trees has been extraordinary,” noted event organizer Mary Jo Duvall. “We are humbled by the community’s generosity and support of the teen home, which is now thriving. As the auction ramps up on Facebook, everyone gets into the holiday spirit. This year we hope bidders and anyone who wants to celebrate some Christmas cheer visits us downtown on the 26th.”
