The Fire Station Cannabis Co. (TFS) was named the fifth best cannabis company to work for in the nation by the Best Companies Group in partnership with the Cannabis Business Times.
The Fire Station was the only Michigan dispensary listed among the eight 2023 award winners.
The best cannabis companies to work for awards are based on a comprehensive evaluation of each participating company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics which accounted for 25 per cent of the evaluation.
Company employees were also anonymously surveyed to assess the experiences and attitudes of individual employees with respect to the workplace which accounted for 75 oer cent of each company’s total score. Staff members from the companies ranked on the best companies list indicated that their leaders support, inspire, motivate and engage them.
“I feel that employees would say that we have an exciting and new way of looking at workplace culture versus what we see in a lot of other industries,” said Stosh Wasik, co-CEO and owner of TFS. “To see that we’ve been recognized on a national stage is a tribute to the hard work and innovative thinking of everyone here. It’s a testament to our commitment to creating a positive and supportive workplace where employees can thrive and succeed.”
Building a team of empowered, hardworking employees is at the heart of The Fire Station’s culture and has been integral to the company’s employee satisfaction rate.

Cannabis Business Times notes that, “on average, businesses that ranked on the ‘Best Companies’ list scored 89 per cent in employee satisfaction across all categories, compared to 67 per cent for employers that did not make the list.” Responses were processed and rankings were determined by the Best Companies Group, a global research organization that conducts employee survey engagement and satisfaction surveys.
