Firefighters called to house fire in Kincheloe for second time

Law enforcement is labelling this morning's fire as suspicious

Three volunteer fire departments were dispatched to a house fire on at 17 Forest Lodge Rd in Kincheloe just after 8 a.m. today.

Kinross Township VFD, Pickford VFD and Rudyard VFD all responded along with Cloverland Electric, Kinross EMS and Chippewa County Sheriff's Department.

Deputy Nate Moran was the first to arrive at the scene and witnessed black smoke billowing out of the house.

Firefighters arrived moments later and put the fire out in a matter of minutes.

This was the second fire at that residence in the past week, fire officials said.

The house was occupied at the time of that first fire. The cause of that fire was deemed electrical.

This morning, the house was not occupied.

However, the tenant came back around 8 a.m. this morning to retrieve some items, noticed the smoke and called 9-1-1.

Deputy Moran is labelling the fire as suspicious due to the area where the fire started and spread.

The structure is taped off until the investigation is complete.

Firefighters cleared the scene around 9:40 a.m.
