The captain of the Gott saluted those on the shoreline waiting for this big day for the first freighter for the 2023 shipping season to arrive.

The 1004' x 105' freighter will tie up on the east end of the Poe Lock until the locks open.

SooLeader will have a crew tomorrow afternoon inside the locks and visit and talk with the captain and crew of the Gott.

Friday night, the Soo Locks Park and the viewing platform will be open starting at 11 p.m. for those who want to see the Gott lock through.
