Frederic man, 62, killed in motorcycle crash

Alcohol believed to have been a factor, state police say

A 62-year-old man who was not wearing a helmet died in hospital Friday after he was ejected from the motocycle he was riding, swerved into the ditch and sustained life-threatening injuries, according to a news release from Michigan State Police.

Guy Russell from Frederic was traveling southbound on Hiawatha Drive near North Manistee River Road in Frederic Township. He was seen by a witness swerving in the roadway before running off to the right and into a ditch near his residence. 

He was flown to Munson Hospital in Traverse City where he later died, the release said.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor, the release added.
