To better serve and reach individuals interested in a career with the Michigan State Police (MSP), streamlined hiring events to attract potential troopers and motor carrier officers are being held throughout the state this year. The first is Tuesday, Jan. 16 in Lansing.

“We know there are several factors that could impact whether someone is able to take the necessary steps to apply and test for one of our recruit schools,” said Col. James F. Grady II, director of the MSP. “We are removing barriers like access to a laptop or transportation and physically meeting candidates closer to their homes to make the process more accessible, efficient and effective.”

At each hiring event, MSP Recruiters will be onsite to administer the entry-level law enforcement exam and assist with completing the application for trooper and motor carrier officer positions.

“This is one of several new tactics we are using based on feedback from candidates themselves,” said F/Lt. Brian Buege, commander of the MSP Recruiting and Selection Section. “Many applicants have questions that are better answered one-on-one and in-person. We have full time recruiters dedicated to making authentic connections and helping however they can.”

Twenty hiring events are being held in various cities throughout the state through the end of the year. You can view the full list and other events where you can find MSP recruiters here. Please note that time and location specifics will be added closer to the event’s dates.
