Injuries in crash on Mackinac Bridge

Northbound vehicle lost control, say investigators

The Mackinaw City Police Department investigated a traffic crash on the Mackinac Bridge at approximately 10:40 a.m. Friday.

A press release issued by Mackinaw City Police Department Chief of Police.

Todd A. Woods stated that Scott Bartholomew of Fenton was driving northbound on I-75 when he lost control of his vehicle and crossed into the median. 

Jeffrey McCague of Brighton was heading southbound at the time, striking Bartholomew’s vehicle broadside. 

The vehicle driven by Bartholomew came to a stop, leaning on the bridge’s side rail.  

Bartholomew and his passenger were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

McCague was transported to Mackinac Straits Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. McCague has been released. 

Assisting the Mackinaw City Police Department at the scene was Emmet EMS, Straits Area EMS, Mackinac County Sheriff’s Department, St. Ignace Police Department, Mackinaw City and St. Ignace Fire Departments, and the Mackinac Bridge Authority.
