Strong winds knock out power in Mackinac and Chippewa counties

Gusts approached 50 mph this afternoon

Strong winds from the northwest this afternoon knocked out power to several hundred Cloverland Electric customers in Mackinac and Chippewa counties.  As of 6:30 p.m. over 600 customers still had no power.

Some areas saw wind gusts approaching 50 mph.

The Presque Isle was one of a few vessels that braved the winds and waves this afternoon.
