Betty Ann Ledy, daughter of Clifford and Lillie Waldron, was born September 16, 1929, in Rochester, Minnesota. She passed away peacefully at the Straits Area Senior Living Community in St. Ignace, Michigan on January 17, 2024, at the age of 94.

Betty met and married Milton (Bing) Ledy in 1981 and moved from Anaheim, California to Drummond Island. Prior to meeting Bing, she was married to Ray Schmidt until his passing. Betty worked for many years as Lead Bookkeeper for the Disneyland Hotel. In her earlier years she was a fashion model, a ballroom dancer and roller-skating champion. She played the viola and organ and was a talented painter. She embraced her life in Michigan and was an active member of the Drummond Island Lutheran Church. In addition to singing in the church choir, she sang at Lion’s Club and Veterans events. For several months prior to her passing she resided at the Straits Area Senior Living Community where she received exceptional care and made many friends with staff, residents, and Hospice caregivers. Her beloved and loyal (cat) companion, Misty, was with her throughout her stay at the center and at the time of her passing.

Betty was preceded in death by first husband, Ray Schmidt and by Bing Ledy, her husband of 32 years, her parents Clifford and Lillie Waldron, her sisters Marguerite Sonnenberg and Anita Turner, brothers-in-law Harold Sonnenberg Roscoe Turner, Forrest Ledy, Lawrence Ledy, and Courtland Gore, sisters-in-law Donna Ledy, Lillian Ledy, Genevieve Ledy and Mamie Ledy, nieces Nancy Wascher, Martha Guzman, nephew Bill Sonnenberg, and step son-in-law Dave Dean. She is survived by nieces Kathy Turner and Marilyn Lewis, nephews Steve Turner and Danny Sonnenberg, brother-in-law Sam Ledy, sister-in-law Pansy Gore, stepchildren Lauren Dean, Randall (Lucie) Ledy, Mary Williams, Carol (Anthony) Mares and Candace (Chuck) Chambers as well as many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

Visitation at 11:00 a.m. and Funeral services at 12:00 p.m. will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Drummond Island Lutheran church with a fellowship luncheon to follow. A burial service will be held in the spring.
