Tom was born on June 18, 1940, in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, to the late Victor and Edith (Fagan) Hillock. He attended Sault High School and married Jeanette McTiver in 1962; they had two children, Clint and Edie. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War (1966-1972). When Tom returned from Vietnam, he worked for Meadowbrook Farms in Fowlerville, MI, with the draft horse hitches and then with Anheuser-Busch draft horse hitches. Tom enjoyed his time working with the horses and always took his family to see them when they were in the area. Tom returned to Dafter, bought his farm, and went to work for the Mackinac Bridge Authority. He commuted to work daily with lifelong friends, sharing stories and many miles. Tom kept busy in his retirement by continuously working on projects around the farm.

Tom’s great loves were his family and friends. Tom later met and married Sharon (Smith) Hillock, and they were together for over 30 years. They enjoyed camping, spending time with the grandchildren, and evenings around the campfire. Tom never missed an opportunity to spend time with the grandkids, whether helping them build their house or watching them in a recital or sporting event. Tom always had time to chat with a friend and never missed a chance to have a good time. Tom was a friend to many, and each one of them was very special to him. He was always pleased when they would stop by and happy to fix them a drink and relax in the shade by the shack.

Tom is survived by his wife: Sharon Hillock; children: Clint (Dana) Hillock of Sault Ste. Maire, MI, and Edie (Layne) Holmes of Casper, WY; stepchildren: Troy Raffaele of Sault Ste. Marie, MI and Brian Raffaele of Sault Ste. Marie; grandchildren: Samantha, Dillon, Bryant, and Averi and great-grandchildren: Tommie and Frannie. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Chum and John Hillock.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 13, 2024, from 3 - 7 at the American Legion, 3 Legion Dr., Sault Ste. Marie, MI
