LANSING – Brad Srebnik, 36, of Alpena, was sentenced today by Judge Alan Curtis sitting in the 26th Circuit Court in Alpena County to spend the rest of his life incarcerated, without the possibility of parole, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and Alpena County Prosecutor Cynthia Muszynski.

Srebnik was found guilty of two counts of first-degree premeditated homicide and three other felonies for the 2021 murders of Abby Hill, 31, and Brynn Bills, 17, following a nine-day jury trial.

This follows the sentencing of Joshua Wirgau, 35, of Alpena, in February to 15-30 years’ incarceration. Wirgau pleaded guilty in November to one count each of Disinterment and Mutilation of a Dead Body, Felony Accessory After the Fact, and Involuntary Manslaughter for his involvement in the murders.

“Srebnik murdered two young women in cold blood, and the loss of Brynn Bills and Abby Hill will be mourned by this community and their families for years to come. This is a just and appropriate sentence,” said Nessel.

“I am thankful to the Alpena County Prosecutor Cynthia Muszynski, the Michigan State Police, and from my Criminal Justice Bureau, Chief Danielle Hagaman-Clark and Ortal Lieberman for their tireless work on this case.”

"I want to commend the bravery of the family members of the victims who came forward with their statements at sentencing.,” said Muszynski.

“Their messages were clear. Justice has been served in this case thanks to the hard work of the witnesses, the victims' families, law enforcement, Assistant Attorney General Danielle Hagaman-Clark and the Attorney General's office. On behalf of myself and this community, we are extremely grateful for this collaboration."
