Four arrested on drug charges during traffic stop

Additional charges expected as investigation progresses, police say

TRAVERSE CITY -- On Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, detectives from the Traverse Narcotics Team (TNT) identified several individuals who have been traveling on a regular basis to the area from Muskegon to deliver large quantities of drugs.

Surveillance was conducted in Garfield Township and a traffic stop was conducted by members of the Michigan State Police 7th District Emergency Support Team. Four men from the Muskegon area were arrested during the traffic stop after the following items were located in the rental vehicle: 

  • 114 grams of crystal methamphetamine
  • 58 grams of cocaine
  • 31 grams of fentanyl
  • 6 grams of heroin
  • 2.5 grams of crack cocaine
  • 5 oxycodone pills
  • $1,860 in US currency

All four men in the vehicle, a 20-year-old, a 22-year-old, a 27-year-old, and a 29-year-old, were lodged at the Grand Traverse County Jail. They are each being held on a $75,000 bond for possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession with the intent to deliver cocaine, possession with the intent to deliver fentanyl, and possession with the intent to deliver heroin.

Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues. TNT was assisted by the MSP ES Team, Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office, and the MSP Traverse City Post.
