Car crash takes out power to 200 in Chippewa County

9 Mile Road just east of M-129 was closed to all traffic for a period of time

Around 200 people were without power for a few hours this afternoon after a car veered off the road and took out a power pole in Bruce Township.

Chippewa County Sheriff's Deputies on the scene told SooLeader that around 2 p.m., the driver was westbound on 9 Mile Road, just east of M-129, when he lost control, veered off the road, hit a power pole and ended up around 30 feet off the road.

9 Mile Road was closed to all traffic for a period of time while the crash site was cleared and Cloverland Electric crews installed a new pole and wiring.

Deputies say the driver sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene.

No citations were issued.
