The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID Data Tracker website has warned residents of worsening transmission levels, encouraging everyone to sanitize and wear masks in public settings.

There were 526 COVID-19 cases documented in Tuesday evening's count. This number shows an increase of six from numbers reported on Monday. This means that 1,408.34 per 100,000 county residents have tested positive for the virus. There were 19 new hospital admissions recorded.

Michigan’s seven-day count tallied 129,081 cases. This number is down by 16,306 from the 145,387 reported on Monday evening. There was also a slight decline in hospitalizations and deaths across the state. There were 563.86 hospital admissions and 371 deaths reported.

The percentage of fully vaccinated state residents over the age of five is 60.8%. In contrast, 70.3% of county residents were fully vaccinated. These numbers remain unchanged.

Chippewa County Health Department Health Officer Karen Senkus has advised residents to get their vaccinations and booster shots.

“If you have not yet received a Covid-19 vaccine or a booster, please do so,” Senkus said.

Senkus would also like to remind anyone who has been exposed or is exhibiting symptoms to get tested.
