Mike Adsit, a 73-year-old endurance cyclist from Plymouth, is heading to the National Senior Games in Pittsburgh through Tuesday, July 18.
As part of the GetSetUp Athlete program, Adsit, will represent the state and GetSetUp at the event. Adsit's remarkable journey as a four-time, 22-year cancer survivor, combined with his passion for cycling and his involvement with The Livestrong Foundation, exemplifies his determination and resilience in pursuing his athletic goals.
"GetSetUp has provided valuable resources for older residents in Michigan, and MDHHS is excited to celebrate a resident receiving an athletic sponsorship," said Elizabeth Hertel, MDHHS director, in a news release. "We are committed to empowering individuals like Mike Adsit and inspiring others to lead active and fulfilling lives."
The GetSetUp Athletes program is sponsoring 13 extraordinary athletes across the country. Each athlete will receive a comprehensive GetSetUp branded kit, symbolizing unity and fostering a strong sense of identity within their sport. Sponsored athletes will gain exclusive access to GetSetUp's online platform, enabling them to share their inspiring stories, insights and training techniques with a global audience through the GetSetUp Athletes Series.
