More high school football action Friday

Some local unbeaten teams hope to stay that way after this weekend

Last week, there were a few spectacular games.

Probably the most entertaining and intense game was the eight-man match-up between #10 Rudyard and #2 Pickford. This game was decided in double overtime with Pickford coming out on top 44-42.

The now third ranked Panthers travel to Rapid River on Friday. Rudyard hosts a very good Marion team on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Another nail-biter was St. Ignace hosting Inland Lakes/Indian River in eight-man football. Both ranked #7. The Saints came out on top of the Bulldogs 30-28. Now the fifth ranked St. Ignace travels to Rogers City Friday.

The Newberry Indians travelled west to Ironwood and came back victorious with a 52-22 score. Newberry will host Superior Central on Friday evening.

Sault Ste Marie Blue Devils got back on the winning track beating Escanaba 21-7 in 11-man action. The Blue Devils travel to Marquette on Friday.

On Saturday, Engadine had their way against Mid-Peninsula winning 58-8. They do not play this week as Hale forfeited their game.

Also on Saturday, Britton Deerfield from SE Lower Michigan made the long trip to Cedarville to take on the Islanders. They left the Eastern U.P. with a 25-16 victory. Cedarville/Detour Islanders travel to Brimley on Friday.
