Lacal Curtis Roberts, age 60, of Kincheloe, Michigan, died at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey, Michigan, on June 4, 2022. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on November 23, 1961, to Curtis George Roberts Sr. and Rosalie Ann Kirkham.
Lacal grew up in Saginaw and after graduating, he started is career on Mackinac Island, Michigan, where he started working in the kitchen at the Grand Hotel and on the Carriage Tours in the early 80’s. He loved and enjoyed tending to the horses on Mackinac Island, two in particular, Sunny and Sarge. He did all kinds of jobs throughout the business for 41 years. He retired in 2020, when he began his fight with cancer.
Lacal loved to fish, hunt, watch sports, especially U of M and the Lions, play cornhole, boat, camp, and spend his time in nature. He also was an avid concert goer in his earlier years and mastered the art of throwing horseshoes. He loved to do anything outdoors and read newspapers. He especially loved to spend his free time with his close family and friends. He was such a gentle, and loving soul. He was known to light up the room with his smile and laugh. To have him in your life, was such a blessing to everyone, and he will be greatly missed by everyone.
Lacal is survived by his mother, Rosalie Kirkham; significant other, Rose Marsh; daughters, Carrie Sarensen of Elkville, Illinois, Onalee (Kristopher Gignac) Sanchez of Menominee, Michigan, Angela (Kevin) Ireland of Kincheloe, Michelle (David) LaRocque of Alpena, Michigan, and Becky Partanen of Green Bay, Wisconsin; sons, Lee Kaprowski of Troy, Michigan, and George Rodger of Arizona; grandchildren, Justin, Michael, Abigail, Gabriella, Travon, Ava, Ila, Kody, Justise, Aubrey, Faith, Joylynn Lillian, June, Freya, Ayden, Zuri, Ryleigh, Tyler, James, and Takota; great grandchild, Tristin; sisters, Reghina Roberts of Saginaw, Carline Morris of Saginaw, Corina Bilicki of Benzonia, Michigan, Marjery Conrad of Traverse City, and Roxanne Goetz of Loudon, Tennessee; brothers, Curtis (Chelsey) Roberts Jr of Springport, Michigan, and Michael (Susan) Siegler of Florida; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lacal is preceded in death by his father, Curtis Roberts Sr; and brother, Rodney Roberts.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on August 6, 2022, at Galer Funeral Homes & Cremation in Pickford, Michigan, from 11:00 A.M. till 12:00 Noon with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 Noon.
A Celebration of Life will also be held on August 6, 2022, at Father Marquette Fort Park on Mackinac Island, Michigan, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
