Janie Mae (Gagnon) Mangene, age 75, of Cedarville, Michigan, died at the White-Wiles Home in Rudyard, Michigan, on April 5, 2024. She was born on October 12, 1948, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to John Francis and Opal Mae (Peffers) Gagnon.

Janie grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and attended Sault Area Schools. Janie worked many places throughout her lifetime while raising her three children and eventually retired from Cedarville Foods. 

Janie greatly enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking and going to the casino with her husband, whom she met in Cedarville and married in 1993 in St Ignace, Michigan.

She met Gerald Mangene at the Cedarville Bar, and they married on March 12, 1993 in St Ignace, Michigan

Janie is survived by her husband Gerald Mangene; daughters, Toni Bruning, Brenda Cadreau, and Deanna Bowen, all of Sault Ste Marie; grandchildren, Amber (Chris) Nettleton, Joseph McGruther, Casandra McGruther, Ashley (Aaron) Sherlund, Saige Bruning, Dakota Bowen, and Cheyenne Bowen; great-grandchildren Jacklyn, Garrett, Asher, Mae, Christopher, Mackenzie, Liberty, and Eleanor; sisters, Francie McCall of Sault Ste. Marie and Penny Payment of Hessel, Michigan; and brother, Gene (Cathy) Gagnon of Houghton, Michigan.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents, John (Fran) and Opal.

The family wishes to honor Janie’s request for no funeral services to be held. Janie’s final resting place will be Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Sault Ste. Marie
