Joan Elizabeth (King) Corbiere, Jo to her family and friends, filled her time between October 27, 1942, through April 6, 2024, to the brim. She LIVED! Born and raised on picturesque Sugar Island, to a big and loving family, a wonderful place to start young Joan’s one wild and precious life.

Jo was a graduate of a one room schoolhouse, Loretto Catholic high school, Delta College, and Spring Arbor University. The beautiful Joan married her Prince Charming, the dashing Wayne and went on to raise her 3 children Ann Marie, Teresa and Jerry, in the beautiful farm country of the Saginaw Valley area. During the 1970’s Jo continued to blossom and challenge herself. She went from homemaker to the Executive Director of the Volunteer Action Center of Bay County. The accomplishments and accolades she earned are many. She served on numerous boards, steering committees and was even the Bay City Fireworks Festival Fireworks Queen (she walked the entire parade route in heels!). After earning her bachelor’s degree, Joan was listed in the Who’s Who among students in American Universities and Colleges Book-we are all SO proud-ask Wayne, he’ll show you her place in that book!

Joan was an avid knitter, voracious reader, award winning wood carver, gifted painter, and uber talented quilter.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Gerald D. Corbiere “Wayne”; daughters, Ann Marie (Geoff) and Teresa (Tim); grandchildren, James, Dwayne, Sienna and Seth; great-grandchildren, Braxston, Desirai, Noah, Charlie Mae, and Mya; siblings, oodles of nieces, nephews and family members. We are a mutual adoration society family! We will miss her sweet presence in our lives, but we will carry her with us always. Joan was the proudest daughter, sister, wife, mother, and Nana. She loved to share stories of us all.

Joan was preceded in death by her son, Gerald D. Corbiere II “Jerry”; beloved parents, Albert R. and Anna T. King; and brother, Michael H. King.
