Joseph Leonard Frost, age 80, of Sault Ste. Marie died at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey, Michigan on January 28, 2024. Joe was born in Hessel, Michigan to Clifford and Verna (Rapson) Frost on February 5, 1943.

Joe grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and graduated from Sault High School. After graduation, he joined the Army where he was stationed in Germany. Once returning, he attended Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, Michigan and graduated with his associate degree. Joe went on to marry the love of his life, Joan Wurm on July 11, 1969, and worked for the Ford Motor Company until 1977 when he moved back to Sault Ste. Marie where he opened his business “J. Frost Donuts”. Joe owned and operated it until 2002 before selling it. To supplement his time during his retirement, he worked at Bay Mills Casino until 2015.

Joe was an avid Detroit Sports fan and enjoyed watching all the games. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family, conducting debates in politics, and watching his great-grandson’s hockey games.

Joe is survived by his children, Deborah Lowell of Southgate, MI, Sharon (Gerald) Grajeda of California, William (Teresa) Gray of Taylor, MI, Brenda Buzolits and Clifford Frost both of Traverse City, MI, Tracey Frost of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Stacey Frost of Florida, and Stephanie (Christopher) Gurnoe of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; Siblings Mary (Gene) Voss of Indiana, Ann (Don) Asbeck and Noel (Don) Lasley both of Jackson, Michigan; twenty-one grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren who will miss their Papa tremendously.

Joe is proceeded in death by the love of his life, Joan Frost; his parents Clifford and Verna Frost; siblings, James Frost and John Frost; son in law, James Lowell; and Patricia Gammon, Margaret Olsen, Carol Almond.

A visitation for Joe will be at Family Life Funeral Home at 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste. Marie on Tuesday February 6, 2024, at 11AM until the funeral service at 1PM.

Joseph’s final resting place will be Cedar Cemetery in Clark Township, Michigan.
