Loris Anne (Forrest) McKerchie, age 73, died on April 6, 2024, at her home in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 13, 1951, in Sault Ste. Marie, to Melvin and Delema (Geist) Forrest. 

Loris was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie and attended Sault High School. Loris met Daniel McKerchie and the pair quickly fell in love. Married on July 30, 1976, Loris and Daniel started a family of their own shortly after. Outside of being a mother, Loris worked as a waitress at Big Boy and Clyde’s before settling into being a Resident Service Manager for the Sault Tribe where she worked for close to twelve years. 

Loris was a member of a pool league and the VFW Auxiliary. She spent many hours planning VFW kids Christmas parties and volunteering for VFW funerals.

Loris enjoyed reading, spending time outdoors camping, helping others, and spoiling her grandkids. 

Loris is survived by her loving husband, Daniel “Sanman” McKerchie; daughter, Diane Kempf; sons, Wayne (Sara) McKerchie, and C.B. Kempf; and grandchildren, Hayden Mclean, Liem Malpass, Amanda Malpass, Tadd Hill, Cassandra Dias, and Madison McKerchie.

Loris was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Delma Forrest; and brother Gene Forrest. 

Per Loris’ wishes, no services will be held at this time.

Loris’ final resting place will be Bay View Cemetery, in Brimley, Michigan. 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made in Loris’ memory to a foundation of your choice.
