Roberta Joy (Portice) Hall, age 88, of Pickford, Michigan, died on Monday, September 26, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 27, 1934, in Pickford, to James Ernest and Mary Ethel (Walker) Portice.
Bert grew up in Pickford and attended Sunshine School House, before graduating from Pickford High School in 1952. She met the love of her life, Calvin Hall and they married on September 12, 1953, at the Pickford Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. They started their family north of Pickford and then settled just south of Pickford around 1956. She managed their farm, raised their children, and provided kindness and a home for many.
There were two things she enjoyed the most “Farming & Family.” Farming was hard work, but it was always fun too. She liked to harness the team of horses and use them on the farm. Most of all she loved her family: children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Bert is survived by her husband, Calvin Hall; sons, Robert Hall of Pickford, and Randy (Claudia) Hall of Pickford; daughter, Joyce (Mark) Smith; and grandchildren, Callie (Adam) Fuhrman, Olivia (Dan) Stenback, Connor Smith, and Marah (Chase) Fierek; great-grandchildren, Callen Fuhrman, Cy Arnold, and Nora Stenback; sister-in-law-, Arlene Portice of Pickford.
Bert is preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Ethel; infant daughter, Corine Hall; brother, Cecil Portice; sister, Margaret Bolyen; mother-in-law, Ilene; and great friends, Vern Romano and Rich Frank.
A Memorial Service will be held on October 15th at 3 PM.
Final Resting Place will be at Fairview Cemetery in Pickford, Michigan.
