Samuel Bernard Zelickman, age 71, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died January 29, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on October 27, 1952, to Benjamin and Molly (Wonboy) Zelickman.
Sam was a friendly, sociable person with a big heart. He would often help neighbors with their yard work or snow removal. He enjoyed meeting friends for coffee in the morning and sitting at Rotary Park waiting for the freighters to go by. One of his favorite things to do was to attend concerts with his daughter. They shared a connection over their mutual love of music. He loved visiting with his grandson! Sam occasionally liked to go to the local casino.
Sam is survived by his loving wife, Claudia; wonderful daughter, Audrey (Eric) Hofbauer; precious grandson, Scott Hofbauer; brother, Edmund (Jacqueline) Zelickman of North Carolina. He also had several nieces and nephews.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Molly Zelickman; sister, Deborah Zelickman Joh.
Funeral services will be held at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 320 East Portage Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan 49783 on February 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM with Mass starting at 12:00 PM.
Sam’s final resting place will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
